Software License and Acceptable Use

1. Software License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these terms, Sytec AI grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the PDF Metadata Studio software application ("Software") solely for your internal business or personal purposes.

2. License Restrictions

You may NOT:

2.1 Modification and Reverse Engineering

  • Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Software
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to discover the source code
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices or labels

    • 2.2 Distribution and Transfer

  • Distribute, sublicense, lease, rent, or lend the Software
  • Transfer your license rights to any third party
  • Make the Software available over a network where it could be used by multiple devices simultaneously (except as expressly permitted)

    • 2.3 Commercial Use

  • Resell or redistribute the Software or its output
  • Use the Software to provide services to third parties without authorization
  • Incorporate the Software into your own products or services

    • 2.4 Circumvention

  • Bypass, disable, or circumvent any security features or usage limits
  • Use automated tools to access the Software beyond normal usage
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to restricted areas

    • 3. Acceptable Use Policy

    3.1 Permitted Activities

    You may use the Software to:
  • Upload and process PDF documents you own or have authorization to process
  • Extract, view, and edit document metadata
  • Generate processed documents with modified metadata
  • Create and manage metadata templates for your own use
  • Download and export your processed documents

    • 3.2 Prohibited Content

    You may NOT upload or process documents containing:
  • Malware, viruses, trojans, or other malicious code
  • Content that infringes intellectual property rights of others
  • Confidential information you are not authorized to process
  • Personal data in violation of privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
  • Illegal, obscene, defamatory, or harmful content
  • Content that violates export control or sanctions laws

    • 3.3 Prohibited Activities

    You may NOT:
  • Use the Software for any unlawful purpose
  • Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law
  • Infringe the rights of others (privacy, intellectual property, etc.)
  • Upload excessive amounts of data to disrupt service availability
  • Attempt to overload, crash, or impair the Software infrastructure
  • Use the Software to harm minors in any way
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Collect or harvest information about other users
  • Interfere with other users' ability to use the Software

    • 3.4 Security and Integrity

    You may NOT:
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Software or related systems
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Software
  • Breach security or authentication measures
  • Access data or accounts you are not authorized to access
  • Introduce viruses or other harmful code
  • Disrupt the integrity or performance of the Software

    • 4. Usage Limits and Quotas

    4.1 Subscription-Based Limits

    Your use of the Software is subject to limits based on your subscription tier:
  • Free Tier: 5 PDF documents (lifetime limit)
  • Premium Tier: 200 PDF documents per month
  • Enterprise Tier: 1,000 PDF documents per month

    • 4.2 Fair Use

    Even within your subscription limits, you agree to:
  • Use the Software in a reasonable and fair manner
  • Not abuse or exploit the service for purposes beyond its intended use
  • Not use automated scripts or tools to process documents at scale (unless explicitly permitted in Enterprise tier)

    • 4.3 Enforcement

    We reserve the right to:
  • Monitor usage to ensure compliance with limits
  • Suspend or throttle access if usage exceeds reasonable thresholds
  • Terminate accounts that violate fair use policies

    • 5. Intellectual Property Rights

    5.1 Software Ownership

    The Software, including all code, algorithms, designs, interfaces, documentation, and related materials, is the exclusive property of Sytec AI and is protected by:
  • Copyright laws
  • Trademark laws
  • Trade secret laws
  • Patent laws (where applicable)
  • International intellectual property treaties

    • 5.2 User Content Ownership

    You retain all ownership rights to:
  • PDF documents you upload
  • Metadata you create or modify
  • Templates you generate
  • Processed documents you download

    • 5.3 Limited License to User Content

    By uploading content to the Software, you grant Sytec AI a limited, non-exclusive license to:
  • Store your documents on our servers
  • Process your documents to extract and modify metadata
  • Generate processed documents based on your instructions
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting

    • This license is solely for the purpose of providing the service and terminates when you delete your content or close your account.

    5.4 No Claim to User Content

    Sytec AI does not claim ownership of your uploaded documents or metadata. We will not use your content for any purpose other than providing the service, except:
  • As required by law
  • To protect our rights or property
  • With your explicit consent

    • 6. Third-Party Components

    6.1 Open Source Software

    The Software may incorporate open-source software components, each governed by its own license terms. These licenses are available upon request.

    6.2 Third-Party Services

    The Software integrates with third-party services:
  • Amazon S3: For cloud storage
  • Stripe: For payment processing
  • OAuth Providers: For authentication

    • Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and policies.

    7. Data Processing and Privacy

    7.1 Data Processing

    When you use the Software to process PDF documents:
  • Metadata extraction is performed using automated algorithms
  • Image extraction uses standard PDF parsing libraries
  • No human review of your documents occurs unless you request support

    • 7.2 Data Retention

  • Uploaded documents are stored until you delete them
  • Processed documents are available for download for 30 days
  • Deleted data is permanently removed within 90 days

    • 7.3 Privacy

    Your use of the Software is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

    8. Service Availability and Support

    8.1 Availability

    We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee:
  • Uninterrupted access to the Software
  • Error-free operation
  • Specific uptime percentages (except as specified in Enterprise agreements)

    • 8.2 Maintenance

    We may perform scheduled maintenance with advance notice when possible. Emergency maintenance may occur without notice.

    8.3 Support

    Support is provided based on your subscription tier:
  • Free Tier: Community support and documentation
  • Premium Tier: Email support with priority response
  • Enterprise Tier: Dedicated support channels

    • 9. Warranty Disclaimer

    THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Warranties of merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Accuracy of metadata extraction
  • Reliability or availability

    • YOU ASSUME ALL RISK ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE.

    10. Limitation of Liability

    TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SYTEC AI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Loss of data or documents
  • Inaccurate metadata extraction or processing
  • Corruption of files
  • Business interruption
  • Loss of profits or revenue
  • Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages

    • OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

    11. Indemnification

    You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sytec AI from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

  • Your use of the Software
  • Your violation of this license
  • Your uploaded content
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

    • 12. Termination

    12.1 Termination by You

    You may stop using the Software at any time and request account deletion.

    12.2 Termination by Us

    We may terminate or suspend your license if:
  • You violate these terms
  • You engage in prohibited activities
  • Required by law
  • We discontinue the Software

    • 12.3 Effect of Termination

    Upon termination:
  • Your license to use the Software immediately ceases
  • You must stop all use of the Software
  • Your data will be deleted in accordance with our retention policy

    • 13. Updates and Modifications

    13.1 Software Updates

    We may update the Software at any time to:
  • Add new features
  • Fix bugs and security vulnerabilities
  • Improve performance
  • Comply with legal requirements

13.2 License Updates

We may modify this license with notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

14. Export Compliance

You agree to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations. You may not use or export the Software in violation of U.S. export laws or the laws of your jurisdiction.
